 Habitat 

California ground squirrels live in burrows under the ground which can be in plains, small meadows, tree covered hillsides, and rocky outcrops.

 What they eat 

California ground squirrels eat barley, oats, acorns, insects, roots, grains, seeds, fruits, and nuts.  Golden eagles, hawks, and snakes(rattle snakes and gopher snakes) are their predators.
